The Power Behind London’s Newest Tourist Attraction - Crossness Pumping Station

Product: Eclipse 100 panels
Customer: Thames Water
Location: Crossness Sewage Treatment Works, UK
Installation: Since 2003

The Crossness Sewage Treatment Works is Europe’s largest treatment works supplying over 2 million people. After a multi-million pound makeover, the Grade 1 Listed Pumping Station has recently opened its doors to the public for the first time since it first opened in 1865.

With much of the original structure still intact today, including the old pumping engines, the cast iron detailing and the beautiful decor, London’s newest tourist attraction is definitely well worth a visit!

Hawker Siddeley Switchgear (HSS) has been proudly supplying Crossness since 2003 with 3.3, 6.6 and 11kV networks and more recently with over 36 Eclipse panels.

The modern day Sewage Water Treatment industry is a typical process industry where downtime can be critical and costly. Regular shut-down periods are not an option. HSS have always provided Crossness with first class engineering capabilities, with the Eclipse now providing Thames Water with the constant uninterruptible performance with minimal maintenance, along with the optimum reliability, required for Crossness.
