PROJECT AT A GLANCE
Location: Northern Scotland & Southern England
Installation: 2017 - 2020
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) are responsible for delivering electricity to over 3.7 million homes and businesses across the north of the Central Belt of Scotland and also Central Southern England.
• 130,000km of overhead lines and underground cables
• 106,000 substations
• Over 100 subsea cables, powering island communities
• 3.7m customers served by our networks across central southern England (over 2.9m) and the north of Scotland (740,000)
Within the North Scotland and Central Southern England there are miles of overhead lines which distribute electricity across rural locations. SSEN are now extending these lines and consequently require the need for robust and durable outdoor switchgear.
Hawker Siddeley Switchgear (HSS) have recently been awarded a framework agreement to supply SSEN with the Horizon 33kV Outdoor Circuit Breaker for the next 3 years. Through this framework agreement, HSS expect to supply SSEN with approximately 100 Horizon circuit breakers over the next 3 years.
Designed for a 15kV or 38kV application, the Horizon can be used with other products from Hawker Siddeley Switchgear Ltd to provide cost – effective and compact substations or breathe new life into existing
